While the marketing technology landscape is constantly evolving, it has never happened at a faster pace than right now. As we enter 2026, CMOs and marketing leaders are feeling the pressure to use AI to do more with less.

We started feeling this tension in 2025, as we (marketers in Silicon Valley’s tech industry) were suddenly facing mandates to adopt AI to scale our efforts. No matter where they worked, our colleagues and counterparts were being asked to use AI to produce more and more with rapidly diminishing budgets. This was why we built  Marketing Content Lab, an AI-powered tool designed to help content marketers survive this shift (and not as another AI tool threatening to put them/us out of work!). 

However, as the newness and excitement of what we had built began to wane, we found ourselves facing a giant gap. We realized that although we were generating great copy we could truly stand behind, each piece was a disconnected one-off. 

Disconnected one-offs have no place in real-world marketing. It's just not how we work. We always start with brand. We define our value prop. We nail a messaging framework. We establish a voice. Then — and only then — do we create marketing assets. Why? Because everything must align with that strategic brand framework. 

We had to face facts: what we had built was a fun little toy. But it was never going to move the needle.

So we went back to the (Marketing Content) Lab and re-imagined it all from the ground up.

We built the Branding Wizard, taking people from "business description" through "full marketing strategy." We built a value prop generator. We built a tool that could research and compare competitor messaging to expose gaps and weaknesses. We built a tagline generator. A messaging framework tool. A brand archetype selector. (And a lot more.)

Things started to click into place. We realized that we had become much more than an app that cranked out marketing content. We were a real, soup-to-nuts go-to-market engine perfect for under-resourced teams and startups. 

Whether they were a team of 10 or a team of one, our users could build and save an entire brand foundation in the space of an hour. From there, everything they created would align with that strategy and be written in that voice. 

Our name suddenly felt too small for us. We had evolved.

That’s why today, we're excited to announce that Marketing Content Lab is rebranding as Skribil. We are a platform for all marketers, not just content marketers (although we still love you too…after all, we are your people!).
